Adelphi Opera Theatre

Featuring the students of the Department of Music.

The talented singers of Adelphi Opera Theatre present American Treasures: Opera and Musical Theatre from the 20th Century featuring music from Menotti, Bernstein and Sondheim.

Repertoire includes:

THE OLD MAID AND THE THIEF
Composer: Gian Carlo Menotti
A mysterious and attractive stranger named Bob appears in a small New England town, taking up residence with a formidable spinster, Miss Todd, and her young maid Laetitia. Their strategies to keep Bob from leaving them become increasingly outrageous, as do suspicions about his reasons for visiting their upright community. This slice-of-life story was the first opera written specifically for radio broadcast. It has become a comic opera classic.
